EVALUATION OF PHARMACEUTICAL SERVICES IN MOMBAÇA-CE

Objectives: Accomplish the evaluate of the pharmaceutical assistance quality of Mombaça (CE) city, using operationals aspects from indicators in ten Family Units of Health, as well as in the pharmaceutical supply site.

Methods: Study prospective, descriptive, observational, using indicators of Pharmaceutical Care structure, which assesses physical and human resources; process, which involves the control of the medication and result, which includes changes in health status of the population, of the pharmaceutical assistance, proposed by the World Health Organization. The study was authorized by the legal guardian and had the signature of the custodian.

Results: Only the Pharmaceutical Assistance Site had charge of the pharmacist responsible for pharmacy. The municipality has no training program for employees of the Pharmaceutical Care. Regarding to Good Storage Practices, we observed the existence of inappropriate signs of moist, insufficient number of shelves and lack of control in the refrigerators. The manual control of stored product was followed by 100% of Family Units of Health, while the Pharmaceutical Assistance Site performed computerized control. Despite not having the Municipal Essential Medicines, the municipality follows the Agreed Integrated Program, where 70% of medicines were available. The average number of medical consultations, of USF's, was 1.13, while nursing visits was 3.49. The number of drugs per prescription was 2.4 and was discharged 68% of prescription drugs, of which 91% used Brazilian proprietary name.

Conclusion: Evaluation of pharmaceutical assistance in the city of Mombaça (CE) indicates that there is availability of drugs, but requires investment in human and physical resources to make it more efficient.
