CUMPLIMIENTO DE LA MEDICACIÓN EN LOS PARTICIPANTES DE ENSAYOS CLÍNICOS

Objective: To check the rate of medication adherence in participants of clinical trials.

Method: This is a prospective, descriptive and exploratory study that checked the rate of medication adherence in 584 participants of multicentre clinical trials in an integrated research center. The tablets count was the method used for assessing adherence.

Results: The average age was 64 ± 11 years and 82% were male. 96% of participants obtained equal membership fees or greater than 80%. Forgetfulness was the nonadherence reason reported by 39% of participants. There was a statistically significant relationship between participants illiterate and low grip.

Conclusion: The clinical research pharmacist should identify the difficulties that lead to medication non-adherence in clinical studies and propose strategies that encourage adherence, particularly in patients with low level of education. Studies on pharmaceutical interventions on medication adherence of the participants in clinical trials should be encouraged.
