USE OF ANTIPSYCHOTICS IN SCHIZOPHRENIA CARE AT DIFFERENT AREAS OF MENTAL HEALTH

The model of attention to the people with mental disorder in Brazil has undergone transformations over the last two decades that culminated with the establishment of different profiles of spaces for mental healthcare. The goal of this research was studying the use of antipsychotics in schizophrenia during the hospitalization, the outpatient care and the Psychosocial Care Center. It is a Drug Utilization Study. Data were collected from medical records of patients. The data collected were organized and analyzed in light of the guidelines to the schizophrenia pharmacological treatment. No difference was observed in the use of medicines, in terms of the treatment prescribed, in the different assistance spaces. The results suggest the permanence of prescriptive practices in the new assistance models of health care in mental health.
